Privacy Policy
How BroadbandGauge collects and uses data. Consent version 2026-06-01.
Who we are
BroadbandGauge is operated by Qlindex Ltd ("we"), the data controller. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
When you run a speed test and tick the consent box, we store:
- your IP address;
- approximate location (country, region, city, postcode, coordinates) derived from your IP;
- your ISP / operator and ASN;
- the country reported by Cloudflare for your connection;
- connection type and your device/browser/OS, screen size and language;
- the measured results (download, upload, ping, jitter) and a random session identifier;
- your consent and its timestamp/version.
If you do not tick the box, the test still runs but nothing is stored.
Why we collect it (purpose & legal basis)
Legal basis: your consent. We use the data to provide the speed test, to analyse network performance, to detect ISP/ASN-level patterns, and to improve and develop our reliability and network-intelligence systems.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare — content delivery and network infrastructure.
- ip-api.com — IP geolocation/ASN lookup for the location and ISP fields.
Retention
We keep measurements for as long as they are useful for network-performance analysis and service improvement. You can ask us to delete or export your data at any time.
Your rights
You can request access to, export of, or deletion of your data, and you can withdraw consent for future tests at any time, by emailing [email protected].
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on access-controlled infrastructure.
